New England vacation (unfinished)

New England

Day 1: Monday 09/03/2001
Flew into Boston from Atlanta, arrived around 7:30pm, got your rental car and drove to hour hotel in Cambridge. We had to cross the Longfellow bridge, which is named after a famous author and poet. But we only discovered the real attraction of the bridge in daylight, the next day.  We were on the 24th floor of the hotel and this provided a great view of the Boston lights.  After dumping our luggage in the hotel room, we headed straight for the MIT campus, adjacent to the hotel, we were a little disappointed.  We expected a romantic old campus, but it looked like a real nerd world.  We got the feeling that not to much time or money was wasted on the esthetics of campus. But if you look through the windows, you get the Dexter's laboratory feeling. Pipes and pumps all over, ready to blow?
The next morning we got up early and after a sturdy Marriott breakfast we headed downtown on the "T". The Boston Subway system, apparently the third oldest in the world after London and Budapest.  From somewhere in downtown we got on a Duck Tour. This is a ride on an amphibious vehicle, built during Word war II, by women.
